The Pittsburgh Pirates have had one position player after another sidelined by injury.
Now, they have lost a starting pitcher.
The Pirates placed right-hander Chris Archer on the 10-day injured list with right thumb inflammation. Archer (1-2) allowed six runs on six hits, including a pair of home runs, in a 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
Reliever Michael Feliz was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to replace Archer on the 25-man roster. Feliz had two saves and a 1.00 ERA with 12 strikeouts in seven appearances this season.
