Pirates Charities, in partnership with the Topps Company, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Officers, launched on May 19, 2020, the Pirates Charities Pittsburgh Police Baseball Card Program, which features Pirates players and City of Pittsburgh Police officers on trading cards.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are teaming with Topps and cops.

Pirates Charities, the Topps Company and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Officers are combining to launch a baseball card program to encourage positive youth behavior.

The cards, designed by Topps, will feature Pirates players and City of Pittsburgh Police officers. They will be given to police officers to distribute to youths this summer “as a reward and incentive for positive actions and attitude.”

Six Pirates players are featured — pitchers Chris Archer, Keone Kela and Trevor Williams, All-Star first baseman Josh Bell, second baseman Adam Frazier and outfielder Bryan Reynolds.

Each card will have a Pirates player on the front and a City of Pittsburgh Police officer on the back with this quote from Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

The cards were launched Tuesday in coordination with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police’s “Need a Mask, Take a Mask” initiative, where boxes have been placed in front of all six zone stations and two substations as dispensers for the community.
