Pirates open spring training schedule against Twins

The Pittsburgh Pirates will open their 33-game spring training schedule Feb. 22 at LECOM Park in Bradenton, Fla., against the Minnesota Twins.

The schedule includes a total of nine opposing teams, including the Twins, Phillies, Orioles, Tigers, Blue Jays, Braves, Rays, Yankees and Red Sox.

The Yankees and Red Sox make their only appearances in Bradenton on Feb. 26 and March 7, respectively.

The Pirates and Rays will meet in Bradenton on March 22 in a preview of the regular-season opener March 26 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The final game of the Grapefruit League season will be March 24 in Lakeland, Fla., against the Tigers.
