Pirates minor league report: May 8, 2019
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 15-16) lost to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees), 5-4. RHP Mitch Keller lasted only three innings in a no-decision, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. LHP Sean Keselica (0-1, 2.08) blew the lead in the sixth inning on a wild pitch. Keselica allowed one run and struck out two in two innings but also walked four. SS Pablo Reyes (.286) went 2 for 4 with a solo homer in the fourth. LF Jake Elmore (.398) doubled twice. Next: Thursday at Scranton/Wilkes Barre, 10:35 a.m.
ALTOONA (Double-A, 16-16) fell 12-2 to Bowie (Orioles). LHP Sean Brady (0-3, 9.00) gave up four runs on six hits, including two home runs, in five innings. The Curve bullpen followed up by allowing seven earned runs in the game’s last four innings, including four from RHP Tate Scioneaux (1-1, 13.94) on four hits in 2/3 of an inning. The bullpen allowed nine hits and five walks. RF Bralin Jackson (.291) doubled and drove in a run for Altoona. Next: Friday vs. Erie (Tigers), 6 p.m.
BRADENTON (High-A, 20-12) lost 3-2 to Clearwater (Philles). RHP Aaron Shortridge (3-1, 3.43) recorded the loss despite striking out seven in six innings but allowed three runs on seven hits. The Marauders’ runs came on a two-run homer from SS Robbie Glendinning (.368) in the fourth. Next: Thursday vs. Palm Beach (Cardinals), 6:30 p.m.
GREENSBORO (Low-A, 21-10) won 9-0 over Delmarva (Orioles). RHP Steven Jennings (2-4, 5.63) earned the win with 5 1/3 scoreless innings. He struck out three, walked three and allowed three hits. RF Brett Kinneman’s (.178) two-run homer highlighted a seven-run fifth inning, which expanded the Grasshoppers lead to 8-0. 3B Patrick Dorrian (.239) added a bases-loaded triple in the same inning. 2B Kyle Mottice (.750) went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Next: Thursday at Delmarva, 10:35 a.m.
