Pirates farm report for Sept. 8, 2022: Luis Ortiz throws 6 no-hit innings in Indy loss
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 68-63) gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth to lose 5-4 to Omaha (Royals). RHP John O’Reilly (5-3, 5.56) took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits in two innings. RHP Luis Ortiz (3.60) started and gave up two unearned runs without allowing a hit in six innings. Omaha used two walks, an error and a fielder’s choice to score twice in the third. Ortiz walked three and struck out nine. 1B Mason Martin (.215) went 3 for 4 with a homer, his 17th, and a double. LF Blake Sabol (.259) went 1 for 4 and hit his second Triple-A homer. CF Ji-hwan Bae (.297) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. 2B Drew Maggi (.213) was 2 for 4 with a double. 1B Bligh Madris (.295) went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI and committed a throwing error.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 65-63) mustered 10 hits but left eight men on base in a 9-2 loss to Erie (Tigers). RHP Kyle Nicholas (4.24) went three innings and allowed two runs on two hits, walked two and struck out two. Altoona tied the game in the fourth when 1B Malcom Nunez (.263) and DH Fabricio Macias (.268) scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Nunez and Macias each had one hit on the night, a double. RHP Enmanuel Mejia (2-5, 6.04) went a third of an inning and allowed five runs on three hits and walked two to give Erie the lead. RHP Brad Case (3.86) went 2.2 shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five, and RHP Bear Bellomy (6.88) allowed two runs on four hits in two innings of work. 2B Endy Rodriguez (.363) went 2 for 4, C Henry Davis (.191) went 1 for 4, and Nick Gonzales (.260) went 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 58-68) was clobbered by Bowling Green (Rays), 11-2, managing five hits. DH Jackson Glenn (.218) went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. RF Yoyner Fajardo (.261) went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. RHP Ricky DeVito (3-6, 5.40) started and gave up seven runs on four hits, including two homers, in three innings. LHP Denny Roman (8.86) allowed three runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. RHP Sergio Umana (0.00) pitched a scoreless inning and RHP Cristian Charle (3.10) threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
