Pirates farm report for Sept. 4, 2021: Altoona reliever Oddy Nunez throws immaculate inning

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 50-55) and Iowa (Cubs) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sunday.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 52-52) lost its seventh straight, managing just six hits in a 2-0 loss to Akron (Indians). RHP Jeffrey Passantino (1-7, 4.76) was the hard-luck loser, giving up one run on four hits and a walk in five innings. LHP Oddy Nunez (9.00) gave up one run on one hit and two walks in two innings. All six outs he recorded came via strikeout, and in the seventh, he had an immaculate inning, striking out the side on nine pitches. RHP Will Gardner pitched a scoreless eighth. SS Oneil Cruz (.290) went 2 for 5 with a triple. RF Cal Mitchell (.282) was 1 for 4 with a double. Pinch-hitters Jack Suwinski (.239) and Matt Fraizer (.295) had hits.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 69-38) handled Hudson Valley (Yankees), 8-4. DH Blake Sabol (.292) went 2 for 4 with two home runs, running his season total to eight. He drove in four runs. SS Andres Alvarez (.308) went 2 for 5 with his fourth homer. C Eli Wilson (.225) was 1 for 4 and hit his first home run, a two-run shot. 2B Nick Gonzales (.300) was 0 for 2 with two walks. RHP J.C. Flowers (4.14) gave up one run on five hits in 4.1 innings. RHP Garrett Leonard (6.11) allowed one run on two hits in 1.2 innings and earned the win. RHP Colin Selby (4.66) pitched a scoreless ninth.

RHP Logan Hofmann (5-3, 3.47) surrendered four runs on six hits, including three homers, in four innings. RHP Eddy Yean (5.14) gave up two runs on two hits, including a homer, in four innings of relief.
