Pirates farm report for Sept. 22, 2021: Oneil Cruz homers in Indianapolis debut

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 57-63) lost 4-3 to Omaha (Royals). SS Oneil Cruz (.333) homered in his first Triple-A game, going 1 for 3 with a walk. RHP Roansy Contreras, making his first Triple-A start, went 3.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits and one walk, fanning six. RHP Shea Spitzbarth (3-3, 1.58) took the loss, giving up two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk in one inning. 2B Michael Chavis (.273) went 2 for 3 with a double. C Christian Bethancourt (.275) hit his 11th homer of the season.

Next: Thursday at Omaha (Royals), 8:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A) For the second consecutive day, Game 1 of the High A-East championship series between Greensboro and Bowling Green (Rays) was postponed due to inclement weather. The series is scheduled to begin Thursday.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 2-0) The Marauders are one win away from taking the Low-A Southeast championship series after a 6-1 victory over Tampa (Yankees). Bradenton is ahead 2-0 in the best-of-five series. RHP Luis Ortiz pitched six strong innings, allowing one run on four hits and had nine strikeouts. RHP Nick Garcia followed with two scoreless innings with five strikeouts and RHP Oliver Mateo pitched a clean ninth inning. Back to back RBI doubles by DH Jack Herman and 1B Ernny Ordonez and an RBI single by SS Maikol Escotto gave the Marauders a 4-1 lead in the second inning. C Abrahan Gutierrez had a solo homer in the third inning. 2B Jackson Glenn doubled twice and scored a run.
