Pirates farm report for Sept. 16, 2023: Mason Martin homers in Indy loss
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 66-75) was hammered 9-2 by Omaha (Royals). RHP Kyle Nicolas (6.20) pitched a scoreless first as an opener, but RHP Wil Crowe (1-1, 5.57) came on in the second and gave up six runs, five earned, on eight hits and a walk in 3.1 innings. RHP Chase De Jong (4.39) threw 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. DH Mason Martin (.222) went 1 for 4 with his second Triple-A homer. RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.270) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. C Grant Koch (.264) went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 66-68) was pummeled 9-2 by Akron (Guardians). LHP Jackson Wolf (0-4, 4.25) started and gave up three runs on six hits and a walk in five innings. RHP Michell Miliano (4.43) and RHP Valentin Linarez (33.75) each gave up three runs in one inning of work. RHP Jack Carey (13.50) pitched a scoreless eighth. CF Jace Bowen (.222) went 1 for 4 with a triple and a run scored. DH Jacob Gonzalez (.237) went 2 for 4. 1B Connor Scott (.195) went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
