Pirates farm report for Sept. 16, 2021: Matthew Fraizer, Oneil Cruz homer for Curve
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 54-62) got shut out by St. Paul (Twins), 8-0. RHP James Marvel (5-7, 5.35) got the start, allowing eight runs (five earned), walking two and striking out two over six innings. RHP Keury Mella (7.20), RHP Matt Eckelman (5.16) and RHP Hunter Stratton (4.34) each delivered a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. 2B Phillip Evans (.275) and 1B John Nogowski (.214) had the only two hits for Indianapolis.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 57-57) beat Bowie (Orioles), 3-2. RHP Travis MacGregor (4-9, 6.25) started, allowing just one run over 6⅓ innings with eight strikeouts. RHP Shea Murray (3.80) picked up his fourth save of the season, with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning. The Curve had just three hits, but two of them left the yard. CF Matthew Fraizer (.277) went 2 for 3 with his third home run with Altoona and DH Oneil Cruz (.289) went 1 for 4, hitting his 12th long ball of the campaign.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 73-44) beat Hudson Valley (Yankees) 5-2. RHP Grant Ford (6.04) got the start, allowing two runs, walking five and striking out four over three innings. RHP Steven Jennings (4-1, 4.50) delivered four scoreless innings out of the bullpen, striking out six, and RHP Colin Selby (4.37) delivered a pair scoreless himself with four strikeouts to pick up his sixth save of the season. SS Liover Peguero (.271) went 3 for 5. RF Will Matthiessen (.240) went 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. CF Matt Gorski (.229) had two RBIs as well, on a seventh-inning home run that ended up being the game-deciding blow. 2B Andres Alvarez (.302) picked up an RBI on a double as part of a 2 for 4 night.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 71-45) lost in 10 innings to Lakeland (Tigers), 4-3. RHP Luis Ortiz (3.09) started, allowing three unearned runs over four innings, to go along with a walk and five strikeouts. Both RHP Alex Roth (3.68) and LHP Tyler Samaniego (1.29) pitched two scoreless innings, with Samaniego striking out five, including punching out the side in the eighth. RHP Carlos Campos (2-2, 5.06) allowed a double to the first batter of the 10th to take the loss. 1B Endy Rodriguez (.293) went 2 for 5 with a double and a triple to go along with a pair of RBIs. 3B Dariel Lopez (.258) went 0 for 2 but drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
