Pirates farm report for May 7, 2022: Oneil Cruz shows signs of life for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 14-13) lost the completion of a game that was suspended because of rain on Thursday, 7-5, then won a regularly scheduled game, 8-2.

In the completion, which resumed with the score tied 5-5 in the ninth, RHP Cristofer Melendez (1-1, 3.18) gave up two runs in the 10th to take the loss. SS Oneil Cruz went 1 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and his eighth stolen base. CF-2B Ji-hwan Bae went 1 for 4 with two walks and two runs scored. RF Cal Mitchell went 1 for 4 with a walk and a run scored.

In the regular game, Cruz (.178) went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, belting a double and his second home run. Bae (.274) went 1 for 2 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs scored. SS Rodolfo Castro (.250), CF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.235), Mitchell (.310), LB Bligh MAdris (.244) and C Jason Delay (.216) all had two hits.

Next: Sunday vs. Louisville (Reds), 1:35.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 11-15) lost 2-1 to Erie (Tigers) in 10 innings. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (2-1, 0.93) took the loss, giving up two hits and allowing the automatic runner on second to score in the 10th. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (4.63) started and went three innings, giving up one run on three hits with four strikeouts. RHP Noe Toribio (1.76) pitched three scoreless innings of relief and RHP Austin Roberts (.164) worked two scoreless frames. The Curve managed four hits. RF Connor Scott (.304) and 3B Jared Triolo (.261) went 1 for 4 with a double. C Blake Sabol (.301) went 1 for 3 with an RBI single and a walk. LF Tucupita Marcano (.231) went 1 for 2.

Next: Sunday at Erie (Tigers), 1:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 11-14) and Asheville (Astros) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader at noon on June 22.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 14-12) scored a run in the eighth to edge past Tampa (Yankees), 3-2. 1B Brenden Dixon (.274) went 2 for 4 with the RBI double that brought in the winning run. The Marauders had only two other hits, but they walked five times and Tampa committed a pair of errors. CF Jase Bowen (.239) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and his third stolen base. RF Randy Romero (.267) went 1 for 3 with a single and a steal. RHP Justin Meis (3.32) of Bethel Park started and worked five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks and striking out six. RHP Dante Mendoza (4-1, 1.46) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit, to get the win. RHP Carlos Lomeli (2.57) worked a perfect ninth to earn his third save.
