Pirates farm report for May 6, 2021
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 2-1) defeated Iowa (Cubs), 5-4. Tony Stokes, Jr. blasted a pinch-hit solo homer in the seventh inning for what proved to be the winning run. SS Cole Tucker went 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored. Cody Ponce started and went 2⅔ innings and allowed two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts and walks. Chasen Shreve and Geoff Hartlieb pitched a scoreless inning each. Jandel Gustave allowed a run in the ninth but struck out Jose Lobaton with the tying run on first base to earn his second save. LF Chris Sharpe hit a two-run home run in the second inning.

ALTOONA (Double-A , 0-3) lost 8-4 to Bowie (Orioles). Nick Torbio started for the Curve and took the loss, going 3⅔ innings and allowing three hits, including two solo homers, and struck out three. LF Canaan Smith-Njiba, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Jameson Taillon trade in the offseason, went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. CF Daniel Amaral went 3 for 3 and walked twice. 1B Mason Martin was 2 for 4 with a double, drove in a run and drew a walk.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 2-1) won 9-8 over Hickory (Rangers). RF Lolo Sanchez hit a walk-off two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Braxton Ashcraft started and pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts. SS Liover Peguero and CF Matt Gorski singled twice each. CF Jared Triolo doubled and drove in two runs. 2B Francisco Acuna doubled in a run and drew a walk.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 1-2) won 3-1 over Fort Myers (Twins). Santiago Flores, Nick Garcia and Steven Jennings combined to pitch a two-hitter. Flores pitched four scoreless innings and struck out seven. Garcia followed with three innings where he allowed one run, and Jennings pitched two innings with four strikeouts to earn the save. C Eli Wilson hit a solo homer, while DH Alexander Mojica and 3B Norkis Marcos had a single each.
