Pirates farm report for May 30, 2021: Fabricio Macias belts 2 grand slams for Grasshoppers

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 11-12) lost 7-2 to Omaha (Royals). DH Ke’Bryan Hayes went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts in a rehab assignment as he recovers from a wrist injury. He is 6 for 24 (.250) in seven games. RF Bligh Madris (.295) was 2 for 4, and SS Kevin Kramer (.224) homered. RHP Cody Ponce (0-1, 5.94) took the loss after allowing four earned runs and four hits in five innings with six strikeouts and three walks.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 14-9) lost 7-6 to Erie (Tigers). Erie’s Ryan Kreidler hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to secure the win. 2B Ji-Hwan Bae (.200) and SS Oneil Cruz (.256) walked in the bottom of the ninth, but 3B Rodolfo Castro (.262) grounded into a double play to end the game. RF Cal Mitchell (.288) went 2 for 4 and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Cruz had two walks and an RBI triple. RHP Jeff Passantino (1-0, 3.00) allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts. RHP Will Gardner (1-2, 7.62) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 12-12) won 13-0 over Wilmington (Nationals). RF Fabricio Macias (.250) hit two grand slams and had eight RBIs. He hit one to left center field in the sixth inning and another to right center field in the seventh. 3B Jared Triolo (.237) and 2B Aaron Shackelford (.237) also homered. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (1-1, 0.79) threw five no-hit innings with eight strikeouts and earned the win.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 15-9) defeated Palm Beach (Cardinals), 13-1. C Eli Wilson (.407) had two hits, including a home run, and five RBIs. LF Hudson Head (.203) also homered. 3B Alexander Mojica (.203) had two hits and two RBIs, and 1B Norkis Marcos (.203) had two hits, including a triple. RHP Adrian Florencio (1-1, 0.56) allowed just one hit with four strikeouts over five innings to earn the victory. LHP Nick Garcia (2-0, 3.14) allowed one run on four hits with seven strikeouts in four innings of relief.
