Pirates farm report for May 29, 2021: Ke'Bryan Hayes hits 2nd homer for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 11-11) lost 6-2 to Omaha (Royals). 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes hit his second home run since starting a rehab assignment as he recovers from a wrist injury. He’s 6 for 20 (.300) with a 1.064 OPS. DH Bligh Madris went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. RHP Beau Sulser was tagged for five runs on seven hits and two walks in 3.1 innings. RHP Tyler Bashlor pitched two scoreless innings of relief, fanning four. He has yet to give up an earned run in nine appearances covering eight innings.

Next: Sunday at Omaha (Royals), 2:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 14-8) split a doubleheader with Erie (Tigers), losing 5-4 and winning 2-1. In the loss, SS Oneil Cruz and 1B Mason Martin hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth. It was the fourth homer of the season for both. LHP Cam Vieaux was touched up for four runs on five hits in two innings. RHP Shea Murray pitched three scoreless innings of relief. In the win, Cruz went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. 2B Ji-hwan Bae went 1 for 2 with a triple. 3B Rodolfo Castro went 1 for 3 with an RBI. RHP Osvaldo Bido started and allowed one run on three hits in four innings. He struck out six. LHP Oddy Nunez worked two scoreless innings of relief to get the win. RHP John O’Reilly pitched a perfect seventh to earn his second save.

Next: Sunday vs. Erie (Tigers), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 11-12) was blanked 5-0 by Wilmington (Nationals), managing only five hits. 2B Aaron Shackelford went 2 for 3. DH Matt Gorski wore the golden sombrero, going 0 for 4 with four strikeouts. LHP Omar Cruz gave up two runs, none earned, in 3.2 innings to suffer the hard-luck loss. RHP Garrett Leonard pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Next: Sunday vs. Wilmington (Nationals), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 14-9) also managed only five hits but beat Palm Beach (Cardinals), 4-2. 2B Jase Bowen stayed hot, going 2 for 3 with his fifth home run. DH Dariel Lopez and LF Jasiah Dixon singled and drove in a run. RHP J.C. Flowers started and went four innings, allowing one run on two hits with six strikeouts. LHP Brayan Roman gave up one run in three innings of relief, earning the win. RHP Xavier Concepcion pitched two scoreless innings to record his first save.
