Pirates farm report for May 24, 2022: Oneil Cruz, Mason Martin homer for Indy
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 22-19) beat St. Paul (Twins), 8-5 in 11 innings. 1B Mason Martin (.254) got things started for Indy with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. SS Oneil Cruz (.197) tied the game 5-5 with a two-run homer in the seventh. In the 11th, 3B Hoy Park (.225) hit an RBI single and Cruz and CF Travis Swaggerty (.244) drew bases-loaded walks. LHP Cam Allred (2.42) started and went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. RHP John O’Reilly (3.00) followed and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits in three innings. RHP Austin Brice (3.38) got the win by giving up no hits or runs and striking out two in two innings.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 19-21) beat Harrisburg (Nationals), 6-4. The Curve were behind early as Harrisburg scored two runs in both the first and second innings, but Altoona rallied. CF Matt Gorski (.400) hit a three-run homer in the fifth in his first game with the Curve after a call-up from Greensboro. SS Nick Gonzales (.246) went 0 for 2 with two walks and 2B Tucupita Marcano (.304) went 3 for 4 with an RBI. LHP Omar Cruz (5.03) started and went four innings while allowing four runs on six hits and striking out four. RHP Noe Toribibo (1.86) came on in relief in the fifth and allowed no runs on four hits while striking out eight to earn the win.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 18-21) beat Asheville (Astros), 5-2. The game did not have much action until the top of the seventh when Grasshoppers RF Fabricio Macias (.250) doubled in a run and 3B Dariel Lopez (.229) drove in a run on a groundout. Greensboro grabbed two more runs in the eighth on a groundout by C Endy Rodriguez (.276) and a wild pitch. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.444) went 2 for 4. RHP Nick Garcia (4.11) threw five innings of shutout ball, allowed only three hits and struck out four. RHP Wandi Montout (4.43) pitched two innings of relief and allowed no runs on two hits to pick up the win. LHP Tyler Samaniego (0.53) threw 1.2 innings and got the save.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 19-21) lost to Fort Myers (Twins), 9-3. The Marauders’ bats could only muster five singles. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.208) went 2 for 4 and hit a two-run single in the sixth and an RBI single in the eighth. CF Sergio Campana (.218), DH Wyatt Hendrie (.234) and C Geovanny Planchart (.189) each hit a single for Bradenton. Starting pitcher LHP Luis Peralta (7.89) went 1.1 innings and gave up five runs on four hits while striking out two and was tagged with the loss. LHP Jake Sweeney (4.63) went 3.2 innings and allowed no runs on one hit and struck out five. RHP Wilkin Ramos (4.08) allowed four runs on five hits in two relief innings.
