Pirates farm report for May 23, 2021: Ke’Bryan Hayes homers for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 11-6) lost 5-4 to St. Paul (Twins). 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes (.200), playing the second game of a rehab assignment, had a double and home run with two strikeouts. Hayes had been out with a wrist injury since the second game of the season. The Indians rallied with three runs in the top of the eighth but fell short. 1B Christian Bethancourt (.349) was 3 for 4 with an RBI. SS T.J. Rivera (.150) was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and 2B Ethan Paul (.235) added two hits. RHP Beau Sulser (2-1, 3.78) allwed five runs (2 earned) and six hits in four innings with three strikeouts and took the loss. RHP Geoff Hartlieb (0-0, 2.08) didn’t allow a hit and had two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Next: Tuesday at Omaha (Royals), 7:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 11-6) beat Harrisburg (Nationals), 5-4. CF Daniel Amaral (.270) drove in DH Deon Stafford (.182) with a double, and SS Oneil Cruz (.241) hit an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to give Altoona the lead. RHP Jeff Passantino (0-1, 2.08) started and threw five no-hit innings, allowing one walk with three strikeouts. RHP Yerry De Los Santos (3-1, 1.69) earned the win after tossing two no-hit innings of relief, allowing one run with one strikeout and one walk. Amaral and Stafford each had two hits and two RBIs, and Stafford homered.

Next: Tuesday vs. Erie (Tigers), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 9-9) lost 2-1 to Hickory (Rangers). LHP Trey McGough (0-0, 2.40) allowed three hits with one strikeout over five innings. RHP Oliver Garcia (0-0, 2.25) also threw two hitless innings in relief with two strikeouts and one walk. RHP Bear Bellomy 3-1, 5.56) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in the eighth inning. DH Matthew Fraizer (.288) and 3B Jesus Valdez (.130) had the only hits for Greensboro.

Next: Tuesday vs. Wilmington (Nationals), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 9-9) lost 20-7 to Lakeland (Tigers). RHP Adrian Florencio (0-1, 0.82) started strong for Bradenton, allowing two hits with five strikeouts over five innings. The Marauders then allowed a run in the sixth, two in the seventh and five in the eighth. Lakeland broke the game open with 12 runs in the top of the ninth inning. DH Blake Sabol (.500) had two hits, including a home run, and 1B Endy Rodriguez (.295) also homered.
