Pirates farm report for May 18, 2021: Another dominant outing for Roansy Contreras
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 8-4) won 7-3 over St. Paul (Twins). LF Anthony Alford went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. 3B Hunter Owen was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. 1B Christian Bethancourt singled twice and RF Chris Sharpe doubled. Beau Sulser started and earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Braeden Ogle pitched two clean frames out of the bullpen with four strikeouts, while Tyler Bashlor and Jandel Gustave had a scoreless inning in relief apiece.

ALTOONA (Double-A , 8-4) won 2-1 over Harrisburg (Nationals). Starter Roansy Contreras continued his impressive start to 2021 by pitching 6⅔ shutout innings with two hits, six strikeouts and one walk. Contreras, who was acquired from the Yankees in the Jameson Taillon trade in the offseason, has not allowed an earned run in 17⅔ innings and has 28 strikeouts. 1B Mason Martin belted a solo shot in the seventh for his third homer of the season. CF Daniel Amaral hit his first homer of the season. Shea Murray pitched 1⅓ innings of scoreless relief. John O’Reilly allowed a run in the ninth but picked up his first save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 7-6) won 5-1 over Hickory (Rangers). Quinn Priester, a 2019 first-round pick, had his strongest outing of the season, pitching five shutout innings with three hits, four strikeouts and one walk, earning the win. Grant Ford followed with three scoreless innings of relief and Cristofer Melendez got the final two outs in the ninth to record his second save. LF Matthew Frazier, 2B Nick Gonzales, RF Lolo Sanchez, CF Matt Gorski and C Grant Koch had a double apiece. Gorski was 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Frazier had a pair of stolen bases.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 7-6) mustered only three hits in a 7-0 blanking by Lakeland (Tigers). CF Jasiah Dixon had two singles and DH Jase Bowen doubled. Starter Luis Ortiz lasted only two-thirds of an inning and allowed four runs on five hits. Parker Brahms and Steven Jennings pitched 2⅓ innings of scoreless relief each.
