Pirates farm report for May 14, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 5-4) beat Toledo (Tigers), 6-2. RHP James Marvel started and went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and striking out six. RHO Shea Spitzbarth pitched a scoreless inning of relief to get the win. C Andrew Susac went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs. 1B Christian Bethancourt went 2 for 4 to improve his average to .333. LF Anthony Alford also had two hits. 3B Kevin Kramer went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts and is hitting .114.

ALTOONA (Double-A , 6-3) outslugged Binghamton (Mets), 9-7. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba went 2 for 4 with a double, home run and four RBIs. He’s hitting .364 with a 1.273 OPS. 1B Brendt Citta went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. 2B Ji-hwan Bae went 2 for 5. RHP Max Kranick earned the win, giving up four runs in five innings. RHP Shea Murray got one out for his first save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 5-5) beat Rome (Braves), 5-3. 2B Nick Gonzales went 2 for 4 with a double to improve his average to .382. LF Matthew Fraizer hit a two-run home run in the second inning. C Grant Koch went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. RHP Michael Burrows had a strong start, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out seven in four scoreless innings.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 6-4) topped Dunedin (Blue Jays), 8-4. LF Sammy Sianni went 2 for 4 with a double, a solo home run, a stolen base and three RBIs. RF Sergio Campana tripled and scored twice. DH Jase Bowen went 2 for 4 and stole two bases. RHP Domingo Gonzalez started and went four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks, striking out seven.
