Pirates farm report for May 13, 2021
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 4-4) lost 6-5 to Toledo (Tigers). The Indians scored all five of their runs in the second inning, which was highlighted by a three-run homer by DH Anthony Alford. 1B Christian Bethancourt also homered in the second. Alford and RF Dustin Fowler finished with two hits apiece. Matt Eckelman took the loss in relief, allowing three runs, one earned, in two innings. Cody Ponce started and went five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

ALTOONA (Double-A , 5-3) won 9-6 over Binghamton (Mets) in 10 innings. The Curve scored three runs in the top of the ninth to send the game to extras and plated three more runs in the 10th. 1B Mason Martin hit a game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth. SS Oneil Cruz had a two-run triple in the 10th and 3B Rodolfo Castro followed with an RBI single. 2B Ji-hwan Bae and LF Bligh Madris registered three hits each. Hunter Stratton struck out all six batters he faced in two innings of relief and earned the win.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 4-5) split a doubleheader with Rome (Braves), winning the first game, 7-3, and dropping the nightcap, 4-1. In Game 1, 1B Aaron Shackelford hit his fourth home run of the season. 2B Nick Gonzales, a 2020 first-round pick, went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Tahnaj Thomas started and pitched four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. He allowed two hits and walked three. LF Matthew Frazier contributed an RBI single. In Game 2, Gonzales belted a solo shot in the bottom of the first for his second home run of the season. Braxton Ashcraft started and allowed one run over four innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Grant Ford took the loss in relief, allowing three runs in 1⅔ innings.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 5-4) defeated Dunedin (Blue Jays), 4-1. Starting pitcher Eddy Yean pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk. Logan Hoffman pitched two clean innings of relief to earn the win, and Alex Acquino had a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts to earn the save. SS Norkis Marcos had a two-out single that plated two runs in the third. 1B Will Matthiessen doubled.
