Pirates farm report for May 11, 2022: Carter Bins homers in Indianapolis loss
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 15-15) lost to Charlotte (White-Sox), 5-4. Indy was down two runs heading into the sixth inning when the bats came alive. C Carter Bins (.250) started things off with a solo home run, SS Oneil Cruz (.186) singled in a run and scored on a RF Cal Mitchell (.298) double, and Mitchell scored on a double from DH Canaan Smith-Njigba (.258). Charlotte came back and scored a run in the seventh and two in the eighth off RHP Hunter Stratton (4.50) and RHP Austin Brice (3.60), who was saddled with the loss. Starter RHP Cody Bolton went 3.2 innings and allowed two runs in the second on four hits and struck out three. 1B Mason Martin (.245) went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 13-16) lost to Somerset (Yankees), 4-2. The Curve got out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and held Somerset scoreless until the Patriots scored once in the eighth and twice in the ninth to win the game. RHP Kyle Nichols (3.65) went five innings and allowed one run on one hit and struck out four. RHP Noe Toribio (1.47) came on in the sixth and went three innings. He allowed one unearned run and fanned three. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (2.53) gave up the two runs in the ninth on three hits. CF Matt Frazier (.167) made strides to break out of an early season slump with two doubles while 2B Nick Gonzales (.194) and SS Liover Peguero (.340) each hit a pair of singles.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 12-16) lost to Hickory (Rangers), 8-3. RHP Jared James (6.85) had a rough outing, going just 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out six and giving up a home run. The Grasshoppers got a home run in the fourth from 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.714) and scored two more runs in a rally effort in the ninth, but the deficit was too much. 2B Yonyer Fajardo (.333) went 0 for 3 with a walk and two strikeouts and C Endy Rodriguez (.276) hit a couple of singles.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 15-14) lost to Jupiter (Marlins), 4-1. The Marauders’ bats were quiet as CF Sergio Campana (.186) had all of Bradenton’s hits, both singles, and 3B Brenden Dixon (.253) had two walks and scored the only run off a balk in the fourth inning. RHP Valentin Linarez (8.44) went five strong innings, allowed two hits and struck out seven. RHP Carlos Lomeli (3.45) came in for 1.2 innings of relief and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and got the loss.
