Pirates farm report for June 7, 2022: Rodolfo Castro homers in return to Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 27-26) outslugged Columbus (Guardians), 9-6. 3B Rodolfo Castro (.247), sent down by the Pirates on Sunday, went 1 for 5 with a 461-foot home run, his third. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.273) went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. 1B Mason Martin (.228) went 1 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBIs. 2B Ji-hwan Bae (.291) went 2 for 5. SS Oneil Cruz (.225) went 1 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base, his 11th. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (3-2, 4.91) started and gave up four runs on four hits in five innings to earn the win. LHP Cam Vieaux (2.10) pitched a scoreless inning of relief. RHP Austin Brice (2.95) struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth for his third save.

Next: Wednesday vs. Columbus (Guardians), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 25-26) and Reading (Phillies) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 22-29) was edged out by Winston-Salem (White Sox), 3-2. RHP Adrian Florencio (1-8, 8.35) started and took another loss, giving up three runs on six hits, including two homers, in three innings. RHP Logan Hofmann (3.38) and RHP Santiago Florez (6.51) each pitched two scoreless innings of relief and RHP Cameron Junker (3.60) worked a scoreless eighth. RF Yoyner Fajardo (.330) went 1 for 3 with his 10th stolen base and a run scored. The Grasshoppers were held to five hits, all singles.

Next: Wednesday at Winston-Salem (White Sox), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 23-29) was held to five hits in a 4-2 loss to Clearwater (Phillies). DH Rodolfo Nolasco (.210) went 1 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. 2B Jase Bowen (.246) went 1 for 4 and drove in a run. RHP Aaron Shortridge (0.00) started and threw three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and fanning one. RHP Jack Hartman (0-1, 7.36) gave up two hits, including a home run, in 0.2 innings to take the loss.
