Pirates farm report for June 5, 2024: Andres Alvarez belts 4 hits in Indianapolis win
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 25-32) smoked Columbus (Guardians), 11-6. SS Andres Alvarez (.272) went 4 for 5 with a triple, three runs scored and his second stolen base in the leadoff spot. DH Brenden Dixon (.200) went 2 for 5 with a two-run homer, his first. CF Matt Gorski (.272) went 2 for 5 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and his fourth stolen base. RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.238) went 1 for 3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, two walks and his fifth stolen base. RHP Daulton Jefferies (1-1, 7.80) started and picked up the win despite giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings. LHP Josh Fleming (3.60) pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 16-37) lost 10-6 to Richmond (Giants). LHP Anthony Solometo (0-4, 6.43) started and pitched two innings, allowing a two-run home run. He struck out three and walked one. RHP Thomas Harrington (4.15) gave up six runs, five earned, on eight hits in five innings of relief. He struck out six. CH Jase Bowen (.230) went 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.213) hit his sixth home run and 2B Kervin Pichardo (.223) belted his fourth. 3B Joe Perez (.222) went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 31-21) beat Jersey Shore (Phillies), 6-5. LF Lonnie White Jr. (.171) went 1 for 4 with his eighth home run. SS Termarr Johnson (.205) was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. CF Hudson Head (.239) went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. RF Charles McAdoo (.335) went 2 for 3 with a run scored. 2B Mitch Jebb (.194) went 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. LHP Hunter Barco (3.25) started and struggled, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks in two innings. The Grasshoppers bullpen combined to allow one run in seven innings. RHP Alessandro Ercolani (2-1, 5.13) didn’t allow a hit in three innings, striking out five. RHP Ryan Harbin (3.00) worked a scorless ninth for his first save.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 22-31) was held to three hits in a 7-2 loss to Clearwater (Phillies). RHP Antwone Kelly (1-4, 4.64) started and gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits in 5⅔ innings. He walked one and struck out seven. SS Javier Rivas (.172) went 1 for 3 with a double. 2B Keiner Delgado (.216) and 3B Wesley Zapata (.180) each went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
