Pirates farm report for June 26, 2021: Top prospect Nick Gonzales homers in return from injury
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 25-21) lost to Louisville (Reds), 6-1. RHP Steven Wright was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs on eight hits in five innings. He’s 3-3 with a 5.86 ERA. RHP Tyler Bashlor, RHP Shea Spitzbarth and LHP Blake Weiman each threw a scoreless inning of relief. 1B Will Craig went 1 for 3 and hit his seventh home run. CF Jared Oliva went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 27-19) fell to Harrisburg (Nationals), 4-2. RHP Jeffrey Passantino took the loss, starting and giving up three runs on three hits in 3.2 innings. He’s 1-4 with a 3.41 ERA. LHP Oddy Nunez pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. RF Cal Mitchell went 2 for 4 and hit his sixth home run. CF Daniel Amaral went 2 for 4 with a double. 2B Rodolfo Castro went 2 for 4 to up his average to .314.

GREENSBORO (High A, 27-20) beat Greenville (Red Sox), 9-4. Top prospect DH Nick Gonzales, out since May 19 with a hand injury, hit a home run in his first at-bat in his return to the lineup. He went 2 for 5. It was his third long ball of the season. He’s hitting .304 with a .960 OPS. SS Liover Peguero went 3 for 4 with two homers, running his season total to five. He’s hitting .280 with an .821 OPS. Gonzales and Peguero went back to back in the first inning. CF Matthew Fraizer went 2 for 4 and hit his 10th home run, a three-run shot. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski improved to 2-2 with a 1.72 ERA. He pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts.

BRADENTON (Low A, 31-16) handled Jupiter (Marlins), 9-5. CF Hudson Head went 3 for 4 with a two-run home run, his seventh, four RBIs and a walk. DH Blake Sabol went 3 for 4 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. SS Maikol Escotto went 2 for 3 to up his average to .294. 2B Norkis Marcos went 2 for 4 with a walk and scored twice. RHP Adrian Florencio started and went five innings, fiving up four runs, three earned, on five hits with eight strikeouts. He’s 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA. RHP Oliver Mateo worked two innings of relief, giving up a run without allowing a hit. RHP Enmanuel Mejia didn’t give up a run or hit in two innings. He hasn’t surrendered an earned run in 12 innings so far this season.
