Pirates farm report for June 20, 2023: Termarr Johnson homers twice in Bradenton win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 29-39) lost 3-1 to Columbus (Guardians). Indy pitchers gave up only three hits but walked seven. RHP Jared Jones (4.76) made his first Triple-A start and allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out six. RHP Colin Selby (3.63), RHP Hunter Stratton (5.40) and RHP Cody Bolton (2.77) each pitched a scoreless inning. 2B Nick Gonzalez (.258) went 1 for 3 with a double, two walks and an RBI. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.222) went 1 for 5 with a double. CF Chris Owings (.281) and SS Alika Williams (.189) each went 2 for 4. C Endy Rodriguez (.240) went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.

Next: Wednesday vs. Columbus (Guardians), doubleheader, 1:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 31-31) collected 11 hits but scored just one run in a 4-1 loss to Bowie (Orioles). LF Connor Scott (.210) went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base. SS Liover Peguero (.272) went 2 for 5 with a double. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.244) went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. RHP Aaron Shortridge (3-5, 5.40) started and allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He fanned six. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (6.61) pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Next: Wednesday vs. Bowie (Orioles), doubleheader, 4:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 34-28) took care of Winston-Salem (White Sox), 10-7, in a game shortened to eight innings by rain. SS Maikol Escotto (.198) was 1 for 2 with the go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning, his fourth homer of the season. DH Shawn Ross (.205) went 1 for 3 with a three-run homer, his fourth. SS Mike Jarvis (.244) went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. RF Jase Bowen (.244) went 3 for 3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a walk. RHP Thomas Harrington (4.86) started and gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits and three walks in 2.2 innings. RHP Jack Carey (2-1, 6.27) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 35-29) handled Lakeland (Tigers), 6-2. 2B Termarr Johnson (.262) went 3 for 4 with two home runs, his sixth and seventh of the season. DH Enmanuel Terrero (.298) went 1 for 4 with his fifth homer. CF Deivis Nadal (.183) went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. RHP Owen Kellington (5.06) started and allowed two runs on three hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. RHP Darvin Garcia (2.84), LHP Geronimo Franzua (0.00) and RHP Ryan Harbin (1-2, 0.96) combined for 5.1 innings of scoreless relief.
