Pirates farm report for June 12, 2021: Curve's Jeff Passantino shuts down Akron
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 18-17) defeated Nashville (Brewers), 7-4. CF Anthony Alford (.272) was 2 for 4 and hit his fifth home run of the season. 3B Hunter Owen (.188) also went 2 for 4 with a homer, and RF Troy Stokes Jr. (.211) added a home run. RHP James Marvel (2-1, 3.86) allowed seven hits and three runs with four strikeouts over five innings and earned the victory.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 22-13) shut out Akron (Indians), 3-0. RHP Jeff Passantino (1-2, 2.15) allowed four hits over six innings with six strikeouts and earned the victory. RHP Hunter Stratton (1-0, 1.20) earned the save. SS Oneil Cruz (.303) was 1 for 4 with a run scored and reached base for the 16th straight game. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.234) knocked in a run, as did 2B Rodolfo Castro (.295) and C Arden Pabst (.191), who doubled.

GREENSBORO (High A, 20-16) won 5-2 over Hickory (Rangers) in 11 innings. Greensboro scored three times with two outs in the top of the 11th to secure the victory. LF Fabricio Macias (.304), 3B Jared Triolo (.256) and RF Chase Murray (.444) all had run-scoring hits in the 11th. Macias was 3 for 5 with three RBIs, and Murray added two hits. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (1-1, 0.84) scattered six hits over five innings, allowing one run and striking out six batters. RHP Bear Bellomy (5-1, 4.05) allowed one hit and had three strikeouts in four innings of relief and earned the win.

BRADENTON (Low A, 23-13) lost to Daytona (Reds), 8-6. Daytona scored three runs in the top of the eighth to secure the win. CF Hudson Head (.204) was 2 for 3 with a home run, two walks and an RBI. SS Norkis Marcos (.190) also had two hits and an RBI. RHP Adrian Florencio (1-1, 1.80) allowed three earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts in four innings. RHP Sergio Umana (0-1, 6.23) allowed three runs on three hits in one inning of relief and took the loss.
