Pirates farm report for July 8, 2022: Mason Martin homers in Indianapolis win
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 39-41) scored seven runs in the third inning and beat Iowa (Cubs), 7-2. 1B Mason Martin (.202) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his 13th. C Carter Bins (.211) went 2 for 3 with a homer, his fourth. LF Travis Swaggerty (.274) went 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. 2B Tucupita Marcano (.333) and RF Bligh Madris (.309) each went 2 for 4. DH Jake Marisnick (thumb) went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts on a rehab assignment. RHP Miguel Yajure (2-1, 6.10) started and went five innings, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts, to earn the win.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 40-39) split a doubleheader with Akron (Guardians). The Curve lost the opener, 8-3. RHP Aaron Shortridge (6.75) started and gave up two runs on two hits in two innings. RHP Brad Case (0-1, 3.50) gave up six runs on seven hits in four innings to take the loss. Altoona managed two hits. C Blake Sabol (.252) went 1 for 3 with a double. CF Matthew Fraizer (.221) went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Altoona won the second game, 6-5, in eight innings. SS Liover Peguero (.275) went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer, his sixth. CF Connor Scott (.255) went 3 for 4 with an RBI. SS Andres Alvarez (.250) went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. LF Fabricio Macias (.286) went 2 for 4. RHP JC Flowers (5-5, 3.23) pitched 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and fanning five, to earn the win. LHP Tyler Samaniego (3.00) worked a scoreless eighth for his sixth save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 34-44) pounded Greenville (Red Sox), 14-2. 2B Dariel Lopez (.266) went 3 for 4 with his 12th home run and four RBIs. CF Hudson Head (.222) went 3 for 5 with his fifth homer and two RBIs. DH Eli Wilson (.235) went 2 for 4 with his third homer. LF Ernny Ordonez (.235) went 2 for 4 with a double. RHP Jared Jones (3-4, 5.06) started and was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings. RHP Ricky DeVito pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

DH Maikol Escotto (.350) went 3 for 6 with a double and three RBIs. 3B Norkis Marcos (.151) went 2 for 6 with a double and a pair of RBIs. 2B Deivis Nadal (.243) went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs. RHP Johan Montero (2-0, 4.50) pitched 2.1 innings of relief, giving up one run on three hits, to earn the win.
