Pirates farm report for July 4, 2021: J.C. Flowers pitches Greensboro to victory
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 27-26) lost 5-2 to Iowa (Cubs). RF Christian Bethancourt (.297) was 2 for 4 with a solo home run, his fifth of the season. SS Cole Tucker (.214) also knocked in a run. 2B T.J. Rivera (.275) added two hits. RHP Luis Oviedo (0-1, 9.00) allowed two runs on three hits with four strikeouts in two innings and took the loss.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 29-23) dropped a 9-6 decision to Hartford (Rockies). LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.268) hit a two-run home run on the fourth pitch of the game. 2B Rodolfo Castro (.306), RF Cal Mitchell (.312) and 1B Mason Martin (.261) also homered for the Curve. Mitchell was 3 for 5. RHP Bradley Case (2-0, 5.72) started and allowed three runs on seven hits over four innings. RHP Will Gardner (1-4, 9.28) allowed three runs on one hit with five walks in one inning of relief and took the loss.

GREENSBORO (High A, 31-22) pounded Bowling Green (Rays), 13-5. CF Matthew Fraizer (.317) and 1B Will Matthiessen (.224) each had two hits and two RBIs. DH Fabricio Macias (.316) and LF Lolo Sanchez (.255) had two hits and an RBI each. RHP J.C. Flowers (3-0, 1.50) allowed one run and scattered three hits with seven strikeouts in six innings to earn the win.

BRADENTON (Low A, 35-19) lost to Fort Myers (Twins), 6-5, in 10 innings. Fort Myers scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th. LF Jace Bowen (.247) and 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.333) homered for Bradenton. 3B Dariel Lopez (.247) knocked in his 28th run of the season. LHP Jared Jones (1-0, 3.18) allowed three runs on four hits with six strikeouts in four innings. RHP Oliver Mateo (1-2, 10.54) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits in 2/3 of an inning of relief and took the loss.
