Pirates farm report for July 15, 2022: Aaron Shackelford homers twice for Altoona
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 41-45) was outslugged by Columbus (Guardians), 9-7. CF Greg Allen (hamstring), playing on a rehab assignment, went 3 for 5 with a two-run homer. DH Carter Bins (.197) went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. RHP Osvaldo Bido (1-6, 5.54) started and went four innings, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 43-42) scored three in the first to beat Richmond (Giants), 4-2. DH Aaron Shackelford (.261) went 3 for 3 with two homers, running his season total to 16. He also stole his seventh base. LF Blake Sabol (.257) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his 11th. 1B Brendt Citta (.240) went 2 for 4. RHP Luis Oritz (4.73) started and threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and fanning six. LHP Nick Dombkowski (1-1, 4.08) pitched the next four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, including two homers, with six strikeouts. LHP Tyler Samaniego (3.71) pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 36-47) scored two in the eighth to get past Brooklyn (Mets), 2-1. SS Francisco Acune (.272) provided the offense, going 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his second. The Grasshoppers had three other hits – singles by 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.267), 1B Abrahan Gutierrez (.260) and DH Dariel Lopez (.268). RHP Jared Jones (4.80) started and went six innings, allowing one run on two hits with eight strikeouts. RHP Wandi Montout (4-4, 6.39) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win. RHP Eddy Yean (6.50) threw a scoreless eighth, and RHP Cameron Junker (4.11) a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 41-42) dropped a 4-3 decision to Jupiter (Marlins). RHP Bubba Chandler made his first start in Class A. He lasted 2.2 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, including a homer, striking out four and walking three. LHP Anthony Solometo (3.26) potched four perfect innings of relief, fanning six. DH Rodolfo Nolasco (.238) went 2 for 4 with a double and his 11th home run. 1B Juan Jerez (.203) went 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. The Marauders were scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday night, but the second game was rained out and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.
