Pirates farm report for July 1, 2022: Yoshi Tsutsugo homers, but Indy gets blown out

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 37-37) fell 13-4 to Nashville (Brewers). DH Yoshi Tsutsugo (.412) smacked a two-run home run. 2B Kevin Newman (.353) was 3 for 5 with an RBI. Both were on rehab outings. 3B Taylor Davis (.264) was 1 for 1 with two walks and an RBI. LF Travis Swaggerty (.275) was 1 for 5 but left five runners on base. RHP Mike Burrows (0-1, 6.00) allowed five runs on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss.

Next: Saturday at Nashville (Brewers), 8:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 36-37) blanked Harrisburg (Nationals), 6-0. 2B Andres Alvarez (.250) hit his 11th home run, a two-run shot in the second inning. 3B Jared Triolo (.259) was 1 for 4 with an RBI single. RF Connor Scott (.256) was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and DH Brendt Citta (.250) also knocked in a run. RHP Aaron Shortridge (6.00) tossed four no-hit innings with two walks and three strikeouts and got a no-decision. LHP Dillon Peters (1-0, 0.00) allowed one hit and had two strikeouts in two scoreless innings in relief and earned the win.

Next: Saturday vs. Harrisburg (Nationals), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 31-41) topped Hickory (Rangers), 2-1. C Abrahan Gutierrez (.266) was 2 for 3 with an RBI, his 29th of the season. RF Yoyner Fajardo (.270), LF Endy Rodriguez (.268) and SS Dariel Lopez (.249) also had hits. RHP Domingo Gonzalez (5-2, 6.25) allowed four hits with three walks and three strikeouts in six scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. RHP Oliver Mateo (4.80) didn’t allow a hit and had two strikeouts in the ninth inning to earn his third save.

Next: Saturday at Hickory (Rangers), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 32-40) defeated Tampa (Rays), 5-3. CF Sergio Campana (.195) was 4 for 4 with a solo home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.253) was 1 for 3 with an RBI. 1B Jase Bowen (.266) and DH Wyatt Hendrie (.219) each were 1 for 4 with an RBI. 3B Norkis Marcos (.118) was 2 for 3. RHP Po-Yu Chen (2-6, 4.84) tossed five innings, allowing no runs on one hit with three strikeouts to earn the victory.
