Pirates farm report for Aug. 8, 2021: Ji-Hwan Bae homers in 10th to lift Curve to victory

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 41-42) defeated Iowa (Cubs), 8-5. LF Bligh Madris (.264) smacked a three-run home run as part of a five-run eighth inning to seal the win. 3B Ethan Paul (.212) also homered and was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. CF Jared Oliva (.236) was 2 for 5 with an RBI, and 2B Michael Chavis (.296) was 2 for 4. RHP Beau Sulser (4.41) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits in four innings and earned a no-decision. RHP Matt Eckelman (2-4, 4.68) allowed one hit in a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 45-37) edged Akron (Indians), 9-8 in extra innings. DH Ji-Hwan Bae (.270) hit his fifth home run of the season in the top of the 10th inning to give the Curve the win. Bae was 3 for 6 with two doubles and three runs scored. SS Connor Kaiser (.188) also hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th and hit a solo home run. 2B Diego Castillo (.274) hit his third homer of the season. LF Jack Suwinski (.308) was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. RHP Osvaldo Bido (4.82) allowed one hit with three strikeouts in four scoreless innings in a no-decision. LHP Cam Alldred (4-0, 2.06) allowed one run on four hits with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.

GREENSBORO (High A, 52-32) topped Hickory (Rangers), 8-7. 2B Nick Gonzales (.270) was 3 for 3 with five RBIs and three runs scored. He hit two home runs, doubled and also walked twice. 1B Will Matthiessen (.192) was 1 for 4 with an RBI. LF Blake Sabol (.321) had a triple. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (4.85) allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts in four innings of a no-decision. RHP Michell Miliano (1-0, 4.26) picked up the win after allowing one run on two hits in two innings of relief.

RF Daniel Rivero (.283) had two hits and three RBIs. CF Jase Bowen (.209) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three walks. LHP Jared Jones (3-2, 3.33) allowed two hits with seven strikeouts in five scoreless innings to earn the win.
