Pirates farm report for Aug. 31, 2024: Anthony Solometo throws 6 scoreless in Altoona win
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 64-64) lost 6-0 to Louisville (Reds). CF Ji-Hwan Bae (.353) went 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk and his 13th stolen base. SS Liover Peguero (.258) went 1 for 2 with two walks. RHP Luis Cessa (4-6, 4.44) started and went five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (7.71) was touched up for four runs on six hits in three innings.
Earlier, in the completion of a game that was suspended with the score tied 5-5 after nine innings the night before, Indianapolis won 9-8 in 11 innings. Down 8-6 in the bottom of the 11th, SS Nick Yorke (.328) hit an RBI groundout, 1B Jake Lamb (.265) tied it with an RBI double and 3B Malcom Nunez (.251) won it with an RBI single. DH Seth Beer (.281) went 3 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. CF Jack Suwinski (.194) went 1 for 5 with a double and a run scored. Peguero went 2 for 6 with two RBIs. Yorke went 1 for 5 with three runs scored and three RBIs. RHP Braxton Ashcraft (0.47) started and pitched one innings, allowing one hit and an unearned run. RHP Colin Holderman (5.87) pitched a perfect second inning. RHP Isaac Mattson (5-1, 3.19) gave up three runs, one earned, on two hits and three walks in two innings and picked up the win.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 54-71) won its fifth game in a row, beating New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 1-0. LHP Anthony Solometo (1-6, 5.47) started and pitched six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk with six strikeouts. LHP Jaden Woods (5.70) worked the final three innings to pick up his first save, giving up one hit and one walk with one strikeout. The Curve managed only two hits. They plated their only run when Jase Bowen stole home on a double steal.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 70-53) lost 3-1 to Rome (Braves). C Shawn Ross (.197) went 1 for 4 with his 22nd home run. 3B Javier Rivas (.200) went 2 for 3 with a triple. 2B Mitch Jebb (.259) went 1 for 4 and stole his 41st base. RHP Derek Diamond (5-6, 4.66) started and allowed thre runs, one earned, on five hits and four walks in five innings. LHP Julian Bosnic (3.38) pitched two scoreless innings and RHP Elijah Birdsong (4.73) threw a scoreless eighth.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 52-73) was swept by Tampa (Rays) in a doubleheader.
In the first game, a 7-3 loss, the Marauders were held to three hits. DH Justin Miknis (.202) was 1 for 2 with an RBI. RHP Luigi Hernandez (3-3, 6.91) started and gave up seven runs on four hits and four walks in 2⅓ innings. RHP Greiber Mendez (3.86) pitched 2⅔ scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and LHP Hunter Furtado (5.76) pitched two perfect innings.
In the second game, a 5-1, loss, the Marauders collected just four hits. RHP Jhonny Severino (.239) went 1 for 4 with a double. RHP Clevari Tejada (3.57) started and pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. RHP Peyton Stumbo (5.23) followed with two scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit and two walks with four strikeouts. RHP Danny Carrion (1-1, 5.01) surrendered five runs, three earned, on two hits and two walks in the eighth to take the loss.
