Pirates farm report for Aug. 29, 2024: Matt Gorski goes 4 for 4, belts 20th homer for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 63-63) outslugged Louisville (Reds), 10-6. RF Matt Gorski (.255) went 4 for 4 with a double, a two-run homer, his 20th, and four RBIs. LF Jack Suwinski (.194) went 1 for 4 with his fourth homer. CF Billy Cook (.282) went 2 for 5 with two RBIs. DH Edward Olivares (.253) went 1 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. RHP Thomas Harrington (3-1, 3.81) started and earned the win despite giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings. He struck out seven. LHP Ryan Borucki (4.76) threw a scoreless inning.

Next: Friday vs. Louisville (Reds), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 52-71) took down New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 5-4, in 10 innings on a walk-off single by 1B Brenden Dixon (.193). RF Jase Bowen (.235) hit a sacrifice fly that tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. 1B Nick Cimillo (.207) hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Dixon pinch-ran for Cimillo after he drew a walk in the ninth. CF Matt Frazier (.236) hit his sixth double. Eddy Yean (7-5, 3.38) pitched 2⅔ unblemished innings of relief, including a scoreless top of the 10th to earn the win. SP Dominic Perachi (7-5, 3.24) allowed four runs over 5⅔ innings, struck out eight and walked five in a no-decision.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 70-51) used a combined two-hitter to win 3-1 over Rome (Braves). SP Carlson Reed (2.02) pitched six no-hit innings, allowed one run and had six strikeouts and two walks. Carlos Jimenez (1-0 0.00) allowed one hit over two scoreless innings of relief to get the win and Valentin Linarez (3.42) shut the door in the ninth for his first save. LF Hudson Head (.215) had an RBI triple in the sixth that gave the Grasshoppers a 2-1 lead. CF Mitch Jebb (.259) singled, tripled and scored a run. C Geovanny Planchart (.213) doubled. PH Shawn Ross (.159) had a pinch-hit RBI double that plated Cade Kern for an insurance run.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 52-70) lost 6-3 to Tampa (Rays). LF Esmerlyn Valdez (.221) went 1 for 2 with his 19th home run and three walks. RF Andrew Patrick (.222) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. 3B Ethan Lege (.233) went 2 for 4. LHP Connor Wietgrefe (1.13) started and went three innings, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three. RHP Hung-Leng Chang (4.76) gave up three runs on two hits and three walks in 1⅓ innings. RHP Noak Takacs (1-4, 6.75) allowed one run on one hit and two walks to take the loss.
