Pirates farm report for Aug. 25, 2024: Omar Alfonzoz, P.J. Hilson lead Grasshoppers to win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 59-63) lost to Columbus (Guardians), 5-2. C Dylan Shockley (.250) was 2 for 4 with an RBI. 2B Nick Gonzales (.356), CF Joshua Palacios (.253), LF Billy Cook (.287), DH Jack Suwinski (.185) and RF Matt Gorski (.241) all had singles. RHP Luis Cessa (4-5, 4.58) took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. LHP Ryan Borucki (5.23) tossed a scoreless inning of relief allowing no hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Next: Tuesday vs. Louisville (Reds), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 49-71) dropped a 5-2 decision to Richmond (Giants). LF Matt Fraizer (.241) was 2 for 3 with a walk. DH Yoyner Fajardo (.302) had an RBI double. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.220) also singled. LHP Anthony Solometo (0-6, 6.17) took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and strikeout in four innings.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 67-51) edged Asheville (Astros), 5-4. 1B Omar Alfonzo (.224) smacked a solo homer. LF P.J. Hilson (.256) was 1 for 3 with a two-run double. CF Hudson Head (.217) knocked in a run. 2B Mitch Jebb (.258) was 2 for 4 with an RBI. SS Termarr Johnson was 2 for 4. RHP Valentin Linarez (3-0, 3.57) earned the win in relief after allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts in two innings.

Next: Tuesday at Rome (Braves), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 51-69) dropped a 5-2 decision to Lakeland (Tigers). CF Shalin Polanco (.183) was 2 for 3 with an RBI. 1B Axiel Plaz (.215) was 1 for 4 with an RBI. RF Will Taylor (.179) and DH Esmerlyn Valdez (.222) also had hits. LHP Michael Kennedy (4.07) started and tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits with two walks and five strikeouts. RHP Carlos Castillo (0-2, 8.31) took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits with three walks in 1 2/3 innings.
