Pirates farm report for Aug. 24, 2024: Jack Suwinski doubles, homers in Indy loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 59-62) lost 6-3 to Columbus (Guardians). CF Jack Suwinski (.180) went 2 for 4 with a double and his third Triple-A home run. 2B Nick Yorke (.332) went 2 for 5. DH Henry Davis (.307) went 1 for 5 with two RBIs. C Jason Delay (.283) went 2 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. RHP Aaron Shortridge (1-3, 6.10) started and was touched up for six runs on nine hits, including three homers, in 5⅓ innings. RHP Fineas Del Bonta-Smith (3.42) pitched 2⅔ scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks with one strikeout.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 49-70) was doubled up by Richmond (Giants), 8-4. C Carter Bins (.198) went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. RF Matt Fraizer (.231) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. DH Yoyner Fajardo (.299) went 1 for 1 with two walks and a run scored. RHP Po-Yu Chen (4-10, 4.24) started and allowed two runs on six hits and a walk in four innings. He struck out four. RHP Justin Meis (6.71) gave up four runs on one hit and two walks in an inning. RHP Eddy Yean (3.78) threw 1⅓ scoreless innings. 3B Brenden Dixon (0.00) pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing two hits.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 66-51) outslugged Asheville (Astros), 10-6. CF Lonnie White Jr. (.170) went 1 for 5 with a three-run homer, his 14th. DH Shawn Ross (.185) went 2 for 5 with a two-run homer, his 21st. RF Hudson Head (.217) went 1 for 3 with his 13th homer. SS Mitch Jebb (.255) went 2 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. C Omar Alfonzo (.222) went 2 for 4 withh a double, a run scored and two RBIs. RHP Wilber Dotel (5.66) started and went five innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits and two walks to earn the win. He stuck out 10. RHP Mike Walsh (2.00) gave up one run on two hits and walk in two innings to earn the save. RHP Darvin Garcia (4.71) pitched two scoreless innings.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 51-68) swept a doubleheader from Lakeland (Tigers).

In the first game, a 4-3 Bradenton win, 2B Duce Gourson (.250) went 3 for 3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. C Axiel Plaz (.214) went 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. DH Keiner Delgado went 1 for 2 with a walk and two runs scored. RHP Clevari Tejada (4.58) started and allowed one run on three hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. He fanned five. LHP Hunter Furtado (6.02) pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks with three strikeouts, to pick up the win.

In the second game, a 3-2 Marauders victory in eight innings, Delgado (.224) went 1 for 4 with the game-winning RBI single in the eighth. 1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.221) went 1 for 3 with his 18th homer. 3B Javier Rivas (.226) went 2 for 3 with his 12th homer. RHP Antwone Kelly (3.90) started and gave up two runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 2⅓ innings. RHP Luigi Hernandez (3-2, 6.04) pitched the final 3⅓ innings to earn the win, giving up no runs on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
