Pirates farm report for Aug. 21, 2024: Jack Suwinski homers in Indianapolis loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 57-61) lost 5-1 to Columbus (Guardians). RHP Mike Burrows (4.00) started and went four innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (3-9, 7.85) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in three innings. LHP Geronimo Franzua (4.85) worked a perfect eighth. RF Jack Suwinski (.152) went 1 for 3 with his second Triple-A homer. LF Matt Gorski (.243) went 1 for 4 with a double. CF Billy Cook (.295) went 1 for 2 with a double and two walks.

Next: Thursday at Columbus (Guardians), 6:15 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 48-68) fell 6-3 to Richmond (Giants). CF Matt Fraizer (.232) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his third, off RHP Will Bednar, Mars native and younger brother of David Bednar. DH Abrahan Gutierrez (.251) went 2 for 4 with a run scored an a stolen base. LF Yoyner Fajardo (.298) went 1 for 3 with an RBI. LHP Nick Dombkowski (3-3, 3.99) started and gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings. RHP Brad Case (3.16) threw 3⅔ innings of scoreless relief, allowing four hits with no walks and a strikeout.

Next: Thursday at Richmond (Giants), 6:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 63-51) lost 5-3 to Asheville (Astros). The Grasshoppers were held to four hits. 2B Mitch Jebb (.253) went 2 for 4 with a run scored and his 34th and 35th stolen bases of the year. CF PJ Hilson (.254) went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored. RHP Scott Randall (2-3, 6.89) started and took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk in 1⅓ innings. RHP Garrett McMillan (0.00) threw four scoreless innings of relief, giving up two hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. RHP Landon Tomkins (5.06) pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning three. RHP Valentin Linarez (3.48) struck out the side in the ninth.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 48-68) fell 7-4 to Lakeland (Tigers). 2B Duce Gourson (.192) went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. SS Keiner Delgado (.227) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. 1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.224) went 1 for 5 with an RBI. LF Enmanuel Terrero (.163) went 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored. RHP Khristian Curtis (4.48) started and gave up three runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks and three strikeouts with 4 1/3 innings. RHP Noah Takacs (1-3, 6.97) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in 2⅔ innings.
