Pirates farm report for Aug. 12, 2021: Henry Davis triples in Greensboro debut
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 42-44) was tripped up by St. Paul (Twins), 3-2. RF Fabricio Macias (.311) went 2 for 3 with a run scored. DH Ka’ai Tom (.273) went 1 for 5 with a double. CF Chris Sharpe (.202) went 1 for 2 with a double. C Taylor Davis (.261) drove in both runs with a bases-loaded walk and an RBI groundout. SS Cole Tucker went 0 for 2 with two walks and a stolen base. RHP James Marvel (4-4, 5.46) took the loss, giving up three runs on six hits in five innings. RHP Hunter Stratton (6.35), RHP Shea Spitzbarth (1.53) and RHP Keury Mella (0.00) combined to throw four scoreless innings of relief.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 46-39) was swept by Erie (Tigers) in a doubleheader. RHP Travis McGregor (3-5, 5.86) gave up eight runs, seven earned on five hits and two walks in a 15-1 drubbing in the opener. DH Cal Mitchell (.269) went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. CF Matthew Fraizer (.435) went 1 for 3. 1B Mason Martin (.257) went 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. 3B Diego Castillo (.278) went 2 for 3, accounting for two of Altoona’s three hits in a 6-0 loss in the nightcap. Fraizer had the other hit, a double. RHP Jeffrey Passantino (1-6, 4.58) surrendered six runs on 10 hits, including five home runs, in 5.1 innings.

GREENSBORO (High A, 55-32) topped Winston-Salem (White Sox), 5-4. C Henry Davis, the No. 1 pick in the draft, went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk as the designated hitter. 3B Jared Triolo (.300) went 1 for 4 and hit his 11th home run. 1B Will Mathiessen (.196) went 1 for 3 with a double and drove in three runs. 2B Nick Gonzales (.273) was 1 for 5 with a double. C Blake Sabol (.319) went 2 for 5 with a double. RHP Domingo Gonzalez (1-1, 6.75) earned the win, giving up two runs on four hits with six strikeouts in six innings. RHP Will Kobos (2.27) pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save.
