Pirates farm report for April 30, 2022: Roansy Contreras throws 3 scoreless for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 12-10) topped Iowa (Cubs), 4-3. RF Canaan Smith-Njiba (.219) and pinch hitter Brendt Citta (.235) each hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth in a comeback victory. LHP Trey McGough (0.00) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win and RHP Cristofer Melendez (3.24) earned his first save. RHP Roansy Contreras (1.42) started and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts and three walks. 3B Rodolfo Castro (.262) went 2 for 4 with a double. SS Oneil Cruz (.176) finished 0 for 5 with four strikeouts. 1B Mason Martin (.303) was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts but did record an RBI groundout.

Next: Sunday at Iowa (Cubs), 2:08 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 9-11) lost to Akron (Guardians) 4-2. SS Jared Triolo (.292) singled four times, while 2B Nick Gonzales (.217) had three singles. The rest of the offense managed one hit, which was a double by 1B Aaron Schakelford (.279). LHP Omar Cruz (1-2, 3.18) started and surrendered four earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 4.2 innings. RHP J.C. Flowers (4.05) followed with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief and LHP Zach Matson (3.86) pitched a clean eighth inning.

Next: Sunday at Akron (Guardians), 2:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 7-13) was hammered by Rome (Braves), 8-5. RHP Nick Garcia (2-1, 4.61) started and went 3.1 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and three walks. 2B Maikol Escotto (.226) went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and a stolen base. C Henry Davis (.323) went 1 for 4 with a pair of RBIs. RF Yoyner Fajardo (.324) went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Next: Sunday at Rome (Braves), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 12-8) scored two in the seventh to beat Dunedin (Blue Jays), 5-4. DH Jakob Goldfarb (.300) and 3B Juan Jerez (.212) had RBI singles during the rally. Goldfarb went 2 for 2 with a walk. Jerez was 1 for 4 with two runs scored. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.448) went 2 for 4. 2B Mike Jarvis (.250) singled and drove in a run. RHP Po-Yu Chen (3.24) started and worked five strong, giving up one unearned run on one hit with seven strikeouts and one walk. RHP Yunior Thibo (3-0, 4.15) got the win, giving up one run on two hits in three innings.
