Pirates farm report for April 29, 2023: Henry Davis hammers another homer for Altoona
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 10-16) handled Columbus (Guardians), 8-5. RHP Luis Ortiz (2-1, 2.45) started and went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with six strikeouts. CF Josh Palacios (.407) went 2 for 3 with a pair of home runs, his third and fourth, and five RBIs and his first stolen base. 3B Ryan Vilade (.298) went 3 for 5 with a triple. DH Endy Rodriguez (.246) returned from an arm injury and went 0 for 4 with a walk, a run scored and two strikeouts. 2B Aaron Shackelford (.241) went 1 for 2 with two walks and a stolen base.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 10-9) split a doubleheader with Reading (Phillies). The Curve won the first game, 4-3. C Henry Davis (.273) went 1 for 3 with his sixth home run in the last 12 games. SS Andres Alvarez went 1 for 3 with his second home run. 2B Liover Peguero (.250) was 2 for 3 with a double, walk, run scored and RBI. RF Fabricio Macias (.333) was 2 for 3. RHP Aaron Shortridge (2-1, 4.95) started and went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. RHP Noe Toribio (4.35) gave up one run in two innings to earn his second save. He fanned four.
The Curve managed just two hits in the second game and lost, 3-1. 1B Mason Martin (.244) went 1 for 2 with a homer, his third. 2B Alvarez (.190) was 1 for 2 with a double. RHP Matt Eckleman (0-1, 1.64) started and gave up two runs on two hits and three walks in two innings. RHP Oliver Garcia (4.15) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 13-7) split a doubleheader with Rome (Braves). The Grashoppers lost the first game, 7-4.RHP Po-Yu Chen (0-2, 7.31) started and was touched up for five runs on seven hits, including two homers, in 2.1 innings. SS Mike Jarvis (.241) went 2 for 3, hit his fourth home run, a solo shot, and stole his seventh base. 2B Tsung-Che Cheng (.262) went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. RHP Santiago Florez (3.38) pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
The Grasshoppers won the second game, 9-4. RF Jarvis (.281) went 3 for 3 with his fifth home run, a double and a triple. 2B Cheng (.262) went 1 for 4 and belted his third home run, a three-run shot. LF Hudson Head (.211) was 2 for 3 with his second homer. S Maikol Escotto (.207) was 1 for 3 with his second home run. RHP Valentin Linarez (5.68) started and allowed one run on one hit and two walks with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings. LHP Mitchell Miller (3-1, 6.75) got the next two outs to earn the win. RHP Brad Case (21.60) and RHP Will Kobos (0.00) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
