Pirates farm report for April 29, 2022: Ji-hwan Bae has 5-hit night in Indy win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 11-10) manhandled Iowa (Cubs), 8-1. 2B Ji-Hwan Bae (270) went 5 for 6 with two doubles and his second home run. 1B Mason Martin (.319) went 1 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. SS Hoy Park (.211) was 1 for 3 with an RBI. SS Oneil Cruz (.188) went 0 for 3 with three walks and a strikeout. RHP Cody Bolton (3.86) started and went three innings, allowing no runs on two hits with two strikeouts. LHP Cam Alldred (1-1, 1.84) followed with 2.1 scoreless innings with three Ks and earned the win.

Next: Saturday at Iowa (Cubs), 7:08 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 8-10) lost to Akron (Guardians) 3-1. 2B Nick Gonzales (.182) hit a solo home run in the first inning. CF Matt Fraizer (.174) continued to struggle with an 0-for-4 night with two strikeouts. 3B Andres Alvarez (.300) went 2 for 3 with a double and two stolen bases. RHP Kyle Nicolas (4.91) went five strong innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out six. Akron was able to get runs off the bullpen as RHP Travis MacGregor (9.28) pitched two innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit to get the loss and RHP Kyle Selby allowed one run on a hit in the eighth.

Next: Saturday at Akron (Guardians), 7:00 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 7-12) lost to Rome (Braves) 10-6. The Grasshoppers took a 6-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning with four runs, including a three-run home run from C Henry Davis (.328), but gave it away in the bottom of the inning as Rome scored four runs. 1B Matt Gorski (.279) went 3 for 5 with a solo home run and drove in two runs. RHP Jared Jones (5.63) went 4.2 innings and had a mixed bag, giving up five runs on three hits, allowing two homers and striking out nine. RHP Garrett Leonard (9.00) fared no better, allowing four runs on six hits, including a home run, and struck out three to get tagged with the loss.

Next: Saturday at Rome (Braves), 6:00 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 11-8) lost to Dunedin (Blue Jays) 7-0. The Marauders only mustered three hits and struck out 13 times. DH Jacob Gonzalez (.444) hit two singles and 2B Jase Bowen (.243) also hit a single. RHP Duane Underwood Jr. (0.00), rehabbing a hamstring injury, got the start and went an inning, allowing no runs and no hits. RHP Justin Meis (4.15) of Bethel Park worked two-thirds of an inning and gave up five runs, none of them earned, and four hits to take the loss.

Next: Saturday vs. Dunedin (Blue Jays), 6:30 p.m.
