Pirates farm report for April 27, 2022: Matt Fraizer comes through for Curve

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 10-9) lost to Iowa (Cubs), 3-2. RHP Brad Case (10.80) threw a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to give Iowa the lead after Indianapolis fought back to tie the game on a single in the top of the seventh by C Jason Delay (.192). LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.200) went 1 for 4 with a double and DH Mason Martin (.323) went 1 for 4 with a single. 2B Ji-hwan Bae (.211) provided a little pop with a solo home run in the third and Oneil Cruz’s (.190) struggles continued as he went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. RHP Trey McGough (0.00) started, went an inning and allowed no runs or hits. RHP Jerad Eickoff (7.20) came on in the second, pitched four innings and allowed two runs on three hits and struck out seven. Case got the loss.

Next: Thursday at Iowa (Cubs), 7:38 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 8-8) beat Akron (Guardians), 2-1. The Curve scored two runs in the seventh off a two-run single from CF Matt Fraizer (.486) and held off Akron from there to secure a victory. LF Lolo Sanchez (.300) went 2 for 2 with a double and 2B Nick Gonzales (.180) continued to struggle with two strikeouts in an 0-for-4 night. Starting RHP Mike Burrows (1.00) went five strong innings, allowing no runs on two hits, and struck out seven. RHP Noe Toribio (2.61) threw three innings and allowed one run on three hits to get the win. RHP Austin Roberts (1.13) struck out two and allowed no runs or hits in his one inning to get the save.

Next: Thursday at Akron (Guardians), 6:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 7-10) beat Rome (Braves), 3-1. The Grasshoppers used a 2-for-4 night from DH Henry Davis (.352) and 1B Abrahan Gutierrez (.236) to come back from a bad loss on Tuesday. Davis hit two singles and recorded and RBI on a groundout in the fourth. Gutierrez smashed a solo homer in the same inning. Starting RHP Domingo Gonzalez (10.54) went 3.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits and struck out five. RHP Jack Carey (3.97) came on and threw 3.1 shutout innings in relief and struck out three to earn the win. RHP Cameron Junker (3.00) threw one inning and allowed only one hit to pick up the save.

Next: Thursday at Rome (Braves), 7:00 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 10-7) beat Dunedin (Blue Jays), 6-2. The Marauders got a decent start from LHP Luis Peralta (6.55), who threw 3.2 innings, allowed one run on two hits and stuck out nine in a no-decision. RHP Dante Mendoza (1.00) did not give up a run or a hit and struck out one in an inning of relief to get the win. RHP Carlos Lombeli (2.70) allowed one run on two hits in two innings for the save. At the dish, CF Jason Bowen (.246) went 3 for 5 with a solo home run and drove in two runs. 2B Mike Jarviz (.258) was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI single, and 3B Juan Jerez (.227) went 3 for 4 with a double and a two-RBI single in the eighth.
