Pirates farm report for April 17, 2022: Luke Brown's grand slam sparks Bradenton's blowout win
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 6-5) lost 5-1 to St. Paul (Twins). SS Oneil Cruz (.219) was 0 for 4 but knocked in the lone run for the Indians. DH Travis Swaggerty (.194), Crus, 3B Rodolfo Castro (.333) and 1B Mason Martin (.359) combined to go 0 for 14 at the top of the lineup. RF Cal Mitchell (.371) was 2 for 4. RHP Beau Sulser (1-2, 2.13) allowed two runs on two hits and had three strikeouts in four innings and took the loss.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 3-6) lost 6-2 in 10 innings against Richmond (Giants). Richmond scored four times in the bottom of the 10th to seal the win. C Blake Sabol (.379) smacked a solo home run in the fifth inning. LF Connor Scott doubled in a run for the Curve. RHP Kyle Nicolas (0.00) had a strong start and didn’t allow a hit while striking out five batters in four innings. RHP Enmanuel Mejia (0-1, 7.71) took the loss after allowing four runs (3 earned) on one hit with two walks in one inning.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 4-5) earned a 6-1 win over Winston-Salem (White Sox). CF Matt Gorski (.231) hit a two-run home run, and SS Maikol Escotto (.219) was 1 for 4 with two RBIs. 2B Jackson Glenn (.480) was 2 for 3 with a solo homer out of the No. 9 hole. LHP Jared Jones (1-0, 1.08) limited Winston-Salem to two hits, no runs and a walk with eight strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 7-2) smashed Lakeland (Tigers), 17-7. DH Anthony Alford (.429) was 2 for 4 with a solo home run and three runs scored in a rehab outing. LF Luke Brown (.333) hit a grand slam and was 3 for 5. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.314) was 3 for 5 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run, and four runs scored. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.560) continued his hot hitting by going 1 for 3 with two RBIs. 3B Alexander Mojica smacked a solo homer and was 2 for 2 with two runs scored. RHP Joelvis Del Rosario (10.50) allowed four runs on four hits in 3 1/3 innings. RHP Christian Charlie (1-0, 0.00) got the win in relief after allowing three hits, no runs and striking out three in 2 2/3 innings.
