Pirates farm report for April 14, 2024: Hudson Head's 3-run homer lifts Grasshoppers to win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 6-9) lost to Toledo (Tigers), 16-6. 3B Malcom Nunez (.271) blasted a solo homer and had two RBIs. PH Eli Wilson (.500) also hit a solo home run. DH Liover Peguero (.356) had an RBI double. CF Gilberto Celestino (.265) was 2 for 4 with an RBI and walk. C Carter Bins (.258) was 3 for 4. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (1-2, 8.62) started and lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits with a strikeout in defeat.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 4-4) was routed by Harrisburg (Nationals), 10-2. Altoona allowed seven runs in the final three innings. C Dylan Shockley (.222) and SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.158) had RBI singles. DH Seth Beer (.273) 3B Brenden Dixon (.286) each had two singles, and LF Tres Gonzalez (.154) had a double and triple. LHP Anthony Solometo (0-1, 3.86) took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits in three innings.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 6-3) scored four runs in the top of the ninth and earned a 6-4 win over Winston-Salem (White Sox). DH Hudson Head’s three-run homer was the key hit in the ninth. C Shawn Ross (.118) hit a two-run home run. 1B Josiah Sightler (.111) had a double. 2B Termarr Johnson (.133) was 1 for 3 with a walk. RHP Yunior Thibo (1-0, 0.00) earned the win after allowing two hits and no runs in two innings of relief.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 1-8) dropped a 7-5 decision to Lakeland (Tigers). RF P.J. Hilson (.222) was 2 for 4 with a solo homer. CF Shalin Polanco (.194) was 1 for 4 with an RBI. 3B Jesus Castillo (.143) doubled and walked twice. RHP Khristian Curtis (0-1, 7.50) took the loss after allowing five runs on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts in three innings.
