Pirates farm report for April 12, 2022: Oneil Cruz goes 2 for 3 as Indy wins 4th in a row

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 5-2) won its fourth straight game, beating St. Paul (Twins), 5-1, in a game shortened to five innings by rain. SS Oneil Cruz (.300) went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and two runs scored. 3B Rodolfo Castro (.400) went 2 for 3. 1B Mason Martin (.364) tripled and drove in a run. 2B Ji-hwan Bae (.400) went 1 for 3 with an RBI and third stolen base. RHP Beau Sulser (1-1, 3.12) gave up an unearned run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 2-2) scored three runs in the fourth and beat Richmond (Giants), 3-2. DH Connor Scott (.500) went 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs. CF Matthew Fraizer (.211) went 2 for 5 with a double and a stolen base. C Carter Bins (.182) went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. RHP Kyle Nicolas (0.00) started and gave up no runs in two hits and three walks with five striekouts in 3.2 innings. RHP Noe Toribio (1-0, 3.86) gave up one run on one hit in 2.1 innings to earn the win. RHP Colin Selby (0.00) worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 1-3) lost to Winston-Salem (White Sox), 4-3. The Grasshoppers got home runs from C Henry Davis (.286) and 2B Maikol Escotto (.167) to build a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. RHP Jack Carey (0-1, 4.50) came in in the seventh and allowed a two-run single to get saddled with the loss. Carey gave up three hits and struck out two in his two innings of relief. RHP Jared Jones (2.70) got the start and went 3.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 3-1) beat Lakeland (Tigers) 4-3. The Marauders were down 2-1 heading into the fifth inning when 3B Brenden Dixon (.300) hit a two-run homer to give Bradenton the lead. Lakeland recouped the lead with a run in the top of the eighth, but SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.211) singled in C Geovanny Planchart (.100) to walk it off in the bottom of the ninth to give the Marauders their third straight win. 1B Jacob Gonzalez (.545) was 3 for 4 with a double and a run scored. RHP Max Kranick (4.50) got the start and went two innings, allowing a run on one hit and striking out three. RHP Carlos Jimenez (3.00) allowed a run on four hits and struck out six in three innings of relief. RHP Yunior Thibo (1-0, 4.50) pitched two innings, allowing a run and a hit and striking out three to pick up the win.
