NBC hockey analyist Pierre McGuire is often found between the benches during NHL hockey games. It’s a dangerous position to be in.

You think your job is dangerous.

Pierre McGuire, NBC hockey analyst, puts his life — well, his face — on the blue line every game.

During NHL games he’s covering, McGuire can usually be found in a booth between the two teams’ benches. No glass. No protection.

On Sunday night’s game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets, he nearly took a puck to the face.

A close call for @NHLonNBCSports' Pierre McGuire in his usual broadcast position between the benches during the @BlueJacketsNHL v. @TBLightning game on @NBCSN.

Dang that was close.

McGuire, an assistant coach and scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 1992 Cup championship team, is no stranger to the danger.

During last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, a flying puck almost made contact. Luckily for him, the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin took the hit for him.

Some jobs are just higher risk than others.
