Penn State’s Lamar Stevens (11) drives between Iowa’s CJ Fredrick, left, and Connor McCaffery, right, during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game, Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, in Iowa City, Iowa.

Four players — one each from Penn State, West Virginia, Duquesne and Robert Morris — were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I all-district teams.

Penn State’s Lamar Stevens and West Virginia’s Oscar Tshiebwe were named first team District 7 and 8, respectively. Duquesne’s Marcus Weathers and Robert Morris’ AJ Bramah were second team, Districts 4 and 15. Weathers is the first Duquesne player honored by the NABC since 2011.

Stevens, a senior forward, earned the distinction for the second consecutive season, the fifth all-time Nittany Lions player so honored. He also is a two-time All-Big Ten selection. Stevens was fourth in scoring in the Big Ten (17.6 points per game).

Tshiebwe, a freshman from Kennedy Catholic, was second in the Big 12 in rebounding (9.3 per game) while averaging 11.2 points.

Weathers, a junior at Duquesne, finished sixth in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding (8.1) and 12th in scoring (14.3). He led the Dukes in both categories.

Bramah, a junior, helped lead Robert Morris to the Northeast Conference Tournament championship while averaging 8.2 rebounds (fifth in the league) and 13.4 points.

In addition, Jibri Blount, a Pittsburgh native and son of Steelers great Mel Blount, was tabbed a second-team selection for at North Carolina Central in District 15. The St. Vincent-St. Mary grad averaged 19.2 points and 9.5 rebounds.

Also, IUP’s Armoni Foster and Malik Miller and Shippensburg’s Jake Biss (Latrobe) were named to the Division II first team for the Atlantic Region. Shippensburg’s John Castello (Mars) and Pitt-Johnstown’s John Paul Kromka (Gateway) were named to the second team, along with Brent Pegram of Cal (Pa.).

IUP’s Joe Lombardi was named coach of the year for the second straight year. He led the Crimson Hawks (28-2) to the PSAC Western Division regular season and conference tournament titles.

IUP was the top seed in the Atlantic Region for the second straight season and was set to host No. 8 Winston-Salem in the NCAA Tournament before the event was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
