In 38 games this season, Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry has a 24-9-3 record.

The Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Thursday’s home game against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.

Jarry’s status was announced by coach Mike Sullivan via video conference.

In 38 games this season, Jarry has a 24-9-3 record along with a 2.71 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and two shutouts.

Jarry has faced the Sabres in three games this season and has a 3-0-0 record, a 2.01 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.

Notes:

• Sullivan indicated injured defenseman Mike Matheson skated with skills development coach Ty Hennes Thursday morning. Matheson has missed the past two games with a presumed face injury. According to Sullivan, Matheson, who has been labeled as “week to week,” will not require surgery.

• Forward Brandon Tanev participated in Thursday’s morning skate with full contact for the second time since he suffered an undisclosed injury April 3. He is expected to miss his 17th consecutive game.

• Backup goaltender Casey DeSmith and forward Evan Rodrigues did not participate in the morning skate. Rodrigues has missed the past three games due to a suspected left ankle injury. DeSmith has missed one game due to an undisclosed injury.

• Reserve goaltender Maxime Lagace is expected to serve as Jarry’s backup for the second consecutive game.

• The Sabres are expected to start goaltender Michael Houser.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio who grew up in Wexford and played for the former Pittsburgh Hornets youth program, the 28-year-old Houser played eight professional seasons, primarily at the ECHL level, before making his NHL debut on Monday in a 4-2 home win against the New York Islanders by making 34 saves on 36 shots.

He followed that up with a 4-3 home win against the Islanders on Tuesday in which he made 45 saves on 45 shots.

In two games, he has a 2-0-0 record along with a 2.40 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.

• Sabres forward Brett Murray is expected to make his NHL debut. A fourth-round pick (No. 99 overall) in 2016, Murray is a product of the Penn State (NCAA) and Youngstown Phantoms (United States Hockey League) programs.
