Penguins to start goaltender Casey DeSmith against Devils

In 10 games this season, Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith has a 6-3-0 record.

The Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Casey DeSmith for Saturday’s road game against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

In 10 games this season, DeSmith has a 6-3-0 record, a 2.22 goals against average, a .915 save percentage and one shutout.

Notes:

• Forward Brandon Tanev has been scratched for undisclosed reasons. In 30 games this season, he has 15 points. With Tanev scratched, forwards Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust are the only members of the Penguins who have yet to miss a game this season.

• Forward Jared McCann was activated from injured reserve. He has missed the past five games due to an undisclosed injury. In 17 games this season, McCann has 10 points (five goals, five assists).

• Forwards Anthony Angello and Colton Sceviour were recalled from the taxi squad to the NHL roster.

In 11 games this season, Angello has one goal while Sceviour has played in 22 games this season and has three points (two goals, one assist).

• Forward Sam Miletic was promoted from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) to the taxi squad. In six AHL games this season, Miletic has two points (one goal, one assist).

• The Devils are expected to start goaltender Scott Wedgewood. On Thursday, he led the Devils to a 3-2 home win against the Penguins by making 40 saves on 42 shots. In nine games this season, Wedgewood had a 3-3-3 record along with a 2.53 goals against average, a .920 save percentage and two shutouts.

• Devils forward Pavel Zacha is expected to return to the lineup after missing one game due to an undisclosed injuy. Zacha is the team’s leading scorer with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 26 games this season.
