Fans enter PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday, March 3, 2021.

The Penguins will continue to recommend face coverings for all guests attending games at PPG Paints Arena this preseason as a precaution against covid-19.

In advance of their first preseason game — a home contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday — the team issued a statement on the protocol:

“The Penguins and arena officials will continue to follow the guidance set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The team will remain in contact with local and state government and public health agencies, guided by our medical partners at UPMC. At this time, face coverings are recommended for all guests.”

Monday’s contest is the first of three home preseason games. The Penguins also will host the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 3 and Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 5.

The team has yet to recommend protocols for regular season contests. Its first home game of the regular season is against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 16.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
