Penguins recall forward Michael Chaput from taxi squad
The Penguins have recalled forward Michael Chaput from their taxi squad in advance of Tuesday’s home game against the rival Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena.
Chaput was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) and assigned to the taxi squad on Sunday. He has yet to appear in any NHL games this season. In 22 AHL games this season, the left-handed Chaput (6-foot-2, 199 pounds) has nine points (two goals, seven assists).
Signed to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a salary cap hit of $750,000, the league minimum, Chaput, 29, has previously spent parts of eight seasons in the NHL. His last action at the NHL level came in the form of 13 games and no points with the Arizona Coyotes last season.
