In four NHL games this season, Penguins forward Jansen Harkins has no points.

The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled forward Jansen Harkins from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League and designated defenseman P.O Joseph to injured reserve Saturday.

Harkins’ recall was announced by the team at 4:54 p.m. via the Penguins’ X account. By 7:04 p.m., he was reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Harkins, 26, appeared in four NHL contests with the Penguins this season — primarily in a third-line role — and did not record a point while averaging 9 minutes, 28 seconds of ice time. After clearing waivers, he was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Oct. 20. In 11 AHL games this season, he has nine points (nine goals, five assists).

A left-handed shot, Harkins (6-foot-2, 197 pounds) is in the second year of a two-year contract with a salary cap hit of $850,000.

As for Joseph, the exact nature of his malady is not publicly known. Per the NHL’s official game notes, Joseph has been listed as a healthy scratch for the past five games and 10 of the past 11 games.

In five games this season, Joseph has one assist while averaging 13:05 of ice time.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
