In 55 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season, forward Alex Nylander has 50 points (25 goals, 25 assists).

The Pittsburgh Penguins once again recalled forward Alex Nylander to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League under emergency conditions Friday, one day after he was recalled and re-assigned within a matter of hours.

Emergency recalls are permitted when a regular lineup of 12 forwards, six defensemen and two goaltenders is not available. There was no word on which of the team’s incumbent forwards are potentially unavailable for Saturday’s road contest against the Detroit Red Wings.

On Thursday, the team recalled Nylander under emergency conditions, announcing the transaction at 2:04 p.m. By 6:56 p.m., minutes before they started a home contest against the Minnesota Wild, the Penguins announced Nylander had been returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Officially, Nylander was a healthy scratch for the Penguins’ 4-1 win against the Wild.

This marks the fourth time this season the right-handed Nylander had been recalled to the NHL roster, with all four transactions coming since March 7. In six NHL contests this season, Nylander has one assist while averaging 13:20 of ice time.

The team assigned him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday after he had been a healthy scratch for eight consecutive games.

An All-Star with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, Nylander has 50 points, including a team-best 25 goals, in 55 AHL games.

Nylander, 25, is signed to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a salary cap hit of $750,000.
